We Support the PET Cup River Cleanup Initiative

The PET Cup is a civil initiative dedicated to eliminating plastic pollution from Hungary’s rivers – especially the Tisza. The organization works with volunteers to clean floodplains and riverbanks from accumulated waste, with a particular focus on PET bottles. As a result of the “bottle flood” phenomenon, a significant amount of plastic waste enters our rivers every year, posing a serious environmental burden. The PET Cup not only collects waste but also ensures its sorting and recycling, allowing a large portion of the collected material to be reused as raw material for new products.

Young people also take an active role in the organization’s work: במסגרת community service, they participate in waste preparation, floodplain monitoring, waste collection, and supporting river cleanup actions. Through the program, they gain practical knowledge about nature conservation and the importance of recycling.
